How to Save Money on a Prom Dress

HE03321LB06, Light Blue, 4US, Ever Pretty Wedding Dresses For Women 03321 ($29.99 $119.99)
For many teenage-aged girls, prom means a time of dressing up like a princess or a hot celebrity. While this night is supposed to be special, it should not put anyone in debt. Here are just a few ways that you can save a lot of money on yours or your daughter's prom dress.

Borrow It: Try to get in contact with many recently graduated student or other friends you know. It is a guarantee that many of them still have their prom dresses hanging up in their closet after only one night of wearing them. Find someone close to you or your daughter's size. Many times the friend or alumni would be happy to lend it out for free, considering they have no more use for it. However, do not be afraid to offer some extra cash for it. They are giving you a great deal either way.

Ebay.com and Craigslist.org: Ebay.com can sometime strike the "used and dirty" chord in some people's minds. Surprisingly, Ebay.com offers many different styles of dresses, sizes, and even brand new ones with tags. Ebay is sure to fit any tight budget.
Just watch out for shipping charges. Another site to check out is craigslist.org. Just choose the cities you live near and type "prom dress" or "formal dress" in the for sale section. You might be able to find some great listings on dresses. The best thing is that they are nearby, so that you can try them on and save on shipping costs!

Look for Sales: To get a really great deal on a prom dress, some planning may be in order. If you have more than a year until your next prom, wait until June to go prom dress shopping. Most proms occur in April and May. Therefore, prices should decrease on fancy dresses by more than 30%!
A couple of years ago, I was looking at dresses in June. I had no intention of buying myself a prom dress until I found a gorgeous, beaded full length ball gown. The best part was that the original price tag of $150 was slashed down to $53!

Make It: Making your prom dress is an idea for those who are either experienced in clothes sewing or have a lot of time to learn. This is probably the most difficult approach to getting a cheap dress, but it can also be the most rewarding. If you make your own prom dress, you will have full control of the style, colors, and fit. Remember to buy the fabric and patterns on sale. Also, give yourself plenty of time to make the dress.
Finding an affordable, yet gorgeous prom dress does not have to be a never ending scavenger hunt. All you have to do is look in the right places and be wise in planning. The sure way to spend more on a prom dress is if you wait until the last minute! Ashley Sinatra.

The Best Ways to Wash Your Clothes

Two week cycle:

If you aim to wash your clothes every two weeks, you will have less loads to wash and spend less money and time at the laundry. Who really wants to spend hours and hours with a pile of clothes? With two to three loads to do, you can finish your laundry quick. The best ways to wash your clothes is when they have less dirt on them.

Color Separation:

It's pretty obvious, right? You would be surprised at to how many people don't put their clothes in different piles. The main colors to look out for in clothes washing are red, blue, black, white, and green. Every other color just revolves around these five main colors. Whites are mainly socks, underwear, t-shirts, pillowcases, and towels. If you have socks that have stripes on them, thats fine. If you put anything in the whites, it has to be mainly white. (For those of you with floral patterns on white pillow cases.)
Cream colored clothing and towels are fine as well. But be careful as to now deep a color the cream is. If it is close to white, fine. If you are unsure, place it beside a light brown article of clothing. If it is closer to that, don't put it in the whites. For dark clothing, place dark colors, reds, and dark blues together. For mediums, putting green in the pile is fine, as long as it's not a bright green. These are all keys to long lasting clothes.

Soap and bleach:

For a full load, a cap and a half should the trick. If they are really soiled however, use two caps. If you have the concentrated soap, use less. Whites usually get one cap because it is less material. Clothing with color is heavier because of the pigments in the threads. White has little pigment. so it is much lighter. Using bleach is recommended because it takes out tough stains and gets your whites cleaner.
I buy a bar of soap that is made for washing clothes and shave of bits and pieces and add it to my laundry soap. This boosts the power of the soap for clothes washing. This works to get my clothes cleaner, smell better and look brighter. Fabric softener is not required for all loads. Use it for blankets, towels, and bedsheets.

Loads:

When you load the washer, it's best not to cram it so full that your clothes barely fit in. This will cause you to have an unbalanced load and your clothes will not wash right. If you load your washer to 80 to 90 percent capacity, this leaves plenty of space for soap and water to move around in. It needs this little bit of breathing room so it can also rinse properly.
Instead of washing towels, sheets and blankets all in one load, try to color separate the towels and sheets with the other loads. Blankets can wash in their own load. Look for articles of clothing that dry really quick. By making them air dry, you save space for the rest of your clothes to dry quicker.

Drying:

Whites dry the fastest, while darks takes the longest to dry. If you have a load of clothes that have a lot of heavy articles to dry, it is best to split it in two. A large load of heavy or dark clothing will take a long time to dry. Dryer sheets are a must when drying clothes. They take away the static that builds up, and makes your clothes smell even better.

Folding:

Right after drying, throw the underwear in a pile. Since these are your undergarments, there is no need to fold them. Put the socks in one pile and match them up last. You will save a lot of time this way. Fold pants and dresses first, since these are the easiest to do. Then fold shirts. Now you can get to the socks, and by this time the towels and bedsheets should be finished by now. If you fold your clothes this way, you save at least 30% of your time. Ideas by Gecko Joe.

Here are some top picks of gold bridesmaid dresses:

Gold is the perfect color to pull off a classy, high fashion look for your bridesmaids. This silk taffeta J. Crew gown adds a lustrious shine to your wedding party, while the high ruffled color adds a coture edge. This dress also errs a bit more modern with it's scoop-neck and cross-over bodice in a darker gold hue. This dress will guarantee your bridesmaids look elegant and modern, while enabling them to have a dress they will want to wear again. Pair with silver accessories for a more contemporary look.

2. Short Strapless Lace dress from David's Bridal
Go for a truly golden look with this retro tea length dress from David's Bridal. The lace details and overlay add a sassy yet sweet look to this dress, while the rosettes add a romantic embellishment. Your bridesmaids will look even more classy if you pair this dress with pearl jewelry or dramatic up-dos. The short length and the strapless neckline add some fun to this vintage style.

3. Kirstie Kelly for Disney Fairy Tale Wedding's Belle Maiden Dress Two, Collection One.
Gold can provide an elegant air to your wedding party, but gold can also make them look like a superstar. This full length gown will have your bridesmaids looking like divas in gold satin. The pleated v-neckline adds a modern and daring plunge, while the beaded applique tops off the shinning look. Accessorize with diamonds to add to the sparkle of this superstar gold dress. Hot Looks for Tall Women - Dresses

This year style is feminine, flirty, yet often even sporty. Solids, nudes, silver/grays and sheers will all work for the tall women's dress this year. Metallic accents have come back, as have ruffles in some instances, and lacy femininity is showing itself off again. This comes with a touch of naughty in the lingerie look, and lacy undergarment looks barely peeking from under a hem, or all-out under sheer fabrics. Though any length goes, long, floor-length dresses are back.
For a tall woman's dress, accenting height is preferred, without disproportionating the body by contrasting belts and distracting or choppy block patterns. Although tropic and tribal are in, these patterns need to be chosen with care in order to flatter a tall woman's form. Vertical stripes or pleats work nicely to bring out the tall woman's height. In essence, the overall desired effect a dress is one long, tall, elegant woman.

These dresses are nicely suited to a tall woman, with styles well-suited for this summer.

Nurture Ombre Dress
In one of this summer's colors, this light and airy dress has that barely there look, even though it covers to the knee. A rounded neckline, well suited to that drop-dead necklace, with a sheer-look coloring that brings out the tall woman's neckline with flowing form.

Cleopatra Maxi-Dress
A tribal print in daywear that will work for anyone, including the tall woman. The gray color with muted tribal toning has a burst of vertical white that creates an elegant effect. The scoop neck allows for a complimenting necklace to accentuate the look.

Feminine in several colors, though champagne is just right for this year, this floor length dress has that silky "nightgown" look that is so in. The pleated bust and flowing design is perfect for this summer, and a tall woman's form is accented nicely with this style.

* Lauren by Ralph Lauren - Sleeveless Arnez Snap Trim Sheath
Casual and classic is the tone here, with more of the style of business chic, with a touch of nautical. Close to form, but not too tight, the lighthouse navy color of this sleeveless dress is contrasted by a vertical stripe up the side in colonial to accentuate a tall woman's height, continuing around the shoulders and neck.. Metallic snaps along the vertical stripe keep it in style, and light pleats across the hips drape quietly, with just above the knee length.

For some eye-popping appeal, this dress has a magnetic look that is sure to draw attention to a tall woman's stature. Sleeveless with the scoop-neck styling, this playful dress has a stand-alone, appeal with a palette of summer's colors in matchstick stripes reaching upward to the neckline on white.Ideeas provided by Jennifer L. Thompson.
